Antics.

I received a text this morning telling me I was on the list for the Interpol show in Richmond tonight. I have never been a huge fan, but Tracy used to hang with one of the members in her NYC days, so I figured I would tag along.

Then I got to thinking…

The first two records, “Turn on the Bright Lights” and “Antics” were both released during some very pivotal moments during my twenties (i currently love saying this). These records were in some form of rotation quite a bit during my exodus from undergrad and my move to Washington D.C. I can’t remember personally ever hitting play on their music, but I know it was often a favorite while hanging out amongst a group of friends or in the car.

By way of default, I guess I find those songs really comfortable. Their escape provides travel to times of excitement, carelessness and confusion. It is hard for me to attach that kind of emotion to anything I have heard recently. Let it be known that the misery of the past made it much easier to latch onto songs and create memories. My current streak of happiness has provided a different type of song to reside in my head. I am not saying that is bad, it is just different (IE: I am much more likely to fixate memory to a beat happening song these days as opposed to some sad bastard shit). I could also blame it on the sheer rate of tunes I try and consume on a daily basis.

Regardless, I am excited. I can’t say I would wear the t-shirt, but I will hum along.
