I am not going to dig through almost 3 years of archives, but I am pretty certain I have never posted a listing of my creative influences. Here is a quick glance at what has made me tick over the past few years…
1. VC Johnson

Most kids who began skating in the eighties ate this artwork up. I still see these graphics and get excited.
2. Todd McFarlane

I was a pretty large comic book collector for a short period of time in the late eighties into the early nineties. McFarlane was the first artist I had ever seen that took the characters that I loved and turned them into full fledged bad asses.
3. Jeff Ament’s handwriting

Ever wonder where my handwriting came from? This is it!
4. Andy Howell

When skateboarding bottomed out in the early nineties, it didn’t get any better than New Deal skateboards. Andy Howell’s graphics were a magical land of hip hop skate graffiti. Howell consistently pushes boundaries and challenges himself creatively.
5. Thomas Campbell

I was drooling over Campbell’s work before I even had a clue about him. When the Ugly Cassanova record came out, I couldn’t believe the incredible artwork I was seeing. A few years later I would become introduced to this art and have been a follower ever since.
This is just a start, but clearly skateboarding and music have played a pretty big part in doing what I do. More to come!
